Corrections
Correction Policy
Accuracy is the foundation of AnswerStack. If a fact in any record is
inaccurate or outdated, any party may submit a correction request.
Who can submit a correction
Any party may submit a correction. The requesting party does not need
to be the described entity. Corrections from third parties with
substantiating evidence are treated with the same editorial weight as
corrections from the entity itself.
What qualifies as a correction
- A fact that is factually incorrect and can be substantiated with a verifiable source
- A fact that was accurate at publication but has since changed
- A disambiguation entry that is missing or misleading
- A source URL that is no longer live or no longer substantiates the cited fact
How corrections are handled
- Corrections are reviewed editorially — they are not applied automatically.
- If substantiated, corrections are applied and the record’s dateModified is updated.
- If the correction cannot be substantiated, it is declined with an explanation.
- The requesting party is notified of the outcome.
What corrections cannot do
- Corrections cannot remove a record from AnswerStack.
- Corrections cannot alter the editorial framing or positioning of a record.
- Corrections cannot add promotional language or marketing claims.
- Corrections cannot override the non-circular citation policy or source requirements.
